《Profile》

Born in Kyoto City in 1968. Graduated from Kyoto Seika University Faculty of Fine Arts in 3D modeling in 1992. Upon graduation, he studied under his father, Seiji (a holder of important intangible cultural property) at Nakagawa Wood Crafts. Received the Excellence Award at the 1996 Kyoto Arts and Crafts Exhibition. Received the grand prize at the 1998 Kyoto Arts and Crafts Exhibition. From 2001 to 2005, he worked as a part-time lecturer at Kyoto University of Art and Design. In 2003, he opened Nakagawa Wood Crafts Hira Studio in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. In 2010, produced Dom Perignon's official champagne cooler "KONOHA". In 2015, the Jindai Sugi KI-OKE stool became part of the permanent collection of the V&A Museum in London, UK. Finalist at the 1st Loewe Craft Prize in 2017. In addition, he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Introducing the latest work "YORISHIRO" series.
