Fuudo refers to the environment seen in the climate and geology unique to a land, but it is not something that will remain there forever, but rather changes little by little. Various seeds are carried in from the outside by the wind, and those that take root in the land slowly grow while being influenced by the atmosphere and other factors, creating the fuudo. Naturally, those that cannot adapt will die out, and they will slowly change and grow as they are influenced by new influences.
The indigenous culture that has developed in this climate is called "vernacular." It can be seen in everyday life, such as architectural styles optimized for the local environment, nursery rhymes and folk songs passed down by regions and ethnic groups, and traditional local cuisine. "VERNACLE" is a coined word inspired by this word.
In an age where things and information can easily cross borders and the same things can be made anywhere, tools and artworks that strongly reflect the local culture are very interesting and stand out. Therefore, Vernacle would like to collect various items from around the world with the theme of "wind" and "earth" and present them together with the unique culture behind the artists.
"wind"
Items mainly themed around "travel" and "mobility."
Wind is an atmospheric phenomenon created by temperature differences, and a medium for transporting various things. It gives us new perspectives on our lives and daily routines, and the wind itself is refreshing and stimulating. Sometimes, we feel like going on a journey like the wind.
"soil"
Items mainly based on the theme of "living" and "lifestyle."
The earth nurtures all things, and is their foundation, but it can also be fertile or harsh depending on latitude and altitude, and it also creates an environmental cycle. It also supports our lives and gives us comfort. When I return from my travels, I realize that life itself is made up of earth.
