MONO-SOLUM 114 - Furou kiln, Toshimitsu Ohi -

・about
The earth traces, the earth draws.
An art piece that traces the memories of regenerated earth.
Bizen clay, originating from the Cretaceous period, has accumulated thousands of years of history.
The clay has quietly held these memories within. Eventually, the potter's flame stirs its deep slumber, and guided by its own memories, the clay begins to depict unique expressions.

Furou Kiln, Toshimitsu Ohi
Born into the Ohi family, one of the six Bizen ware kiln families, this artist has established a kiln in Imbe, Okayama. At the Furou Kiln, he captures the exquisite "taste of fire and earth" born from the serendipitous interaction of clay and flame, framing these creations as art pieces. While upholding tradition, he also explores new possibilities for Bizen ware by incorporating expressions that blend with modern lifestyles and integrating different materials.
