MONO-SOLUM 140 -Furou-gama Toshihide Ooai-

・ABOUT
Traced by earth, drawn by earth
An art piece that traces the regenerated memory of earth
Bizen clay, originating from the Cretaceous land, accumulated thousands of years of time.
The clay has quietly held that memory within itself. Eventually, the potter's flame stirs its deep slumber, and the clay, as if guided by its own memory, begins to depict a unique expression.

MONO-SOLUM
Mono / singular, Solum / earth, soil

A silent story told by Bizen earth
This fragment, standing in the interstice of past and future, brings tranquility and depth to the space, gently resonating timeless memories in the hearts of those who visit.

Furou-gama Toshihide Ooai
Born into the Ooai family, one of the six Bizen ware kiln families, this artist has established a kiln in Imbe, Okayama. At Furou-gama, he encapsulates the exquisite "flavor of fire and flavor of earth," born from the serendipitous interaction of clay and flame, into framed works. While inheriting tradition, he also explores new possibilities for Bizen ware by challenging himself with expressions that blend into contemporary lifestyles and incorporating different materials.

In April 2021, she became independent and began creating custom frames. Fascinated by Italian frames from around the 14th century, she traveled to Italy to study carving and classical framing techniques at a frame workshop in Florence. She creates frames as works of art, based on Italian frames from around the 14th to 15th centuries.
